Corona: Online medical training

On Sunday, the project manager of the Dutch Association for Neurology called us: in a few days, some 500 neurologists would meet for the six-monthly refresher courses, but because the Corona virus is spreading so fast, we are looking for an online alternative. Can you help?

In 3 days from offline to online event

On Wednesday evening our small LiveOnlineEvents team set up equipment in an empty conference center and on Thursday all lectures simply took place as planned, interacting online with the participants who participated fully from home. Moving to online had a lot of positive side effects:

When the association announced to go online, the number of paid registrations increased.
At the offline event you normally saw that the first and last speakers of the day received less attention; in this case there was hardly any difference!
A number of neurologists sat together in the hospital to watch and were thus able to divide and discuss the consultation with other doctors.
The event was scheduled for March 12 and 13, and on March 12 in the evening, all gatherings involving more than 100 people were banned. Because the NVN had made the decision in time, all lectures could ‘just’ take place.
Much more interaction between online participants and speakers.
You can never replace the party and social interaction at an offline event, but we have nevertheless turned it into a party online: during the break we turned a playlist with songs requested by the participants (from Beethoven to Snollebollekes) and were there are massively photos shared by the participants with how they participated in the course.

This was a joint effort of many people: firstly all speakers and board of the association, their technology partner Cygnea who provided presentation tools, light and sound, Activo adapted the website and took care of the online registration and especially project manager Trees Overkamp who linked us all together.
